On the Camping Le Foci in Opi is the ideal base for anyone who loves hiking in the mountains — from gentle walks to more demanding treks. Located in the heart of the  Abruzzo, Lazio & Molise National Park , the campsite opens onto a network of marked trails, suitable for both experienced hikers and those looking to immerse themselves in nature at a slower pace.

Every season offers a different face: in spring, spectacular blooms; in summer, clear skies and cool forest paths; in autumn, colourful foliage; and in winter, trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

⛰️ Monte Marsicano – The queen of the hikes

Duration: 4 hours (one way) | Difficulty: high

A direct trail to Monte Marsicano (2,245 m) starts from the campsite, one of the park’s most iconic peaks. The route is demanding, but the view from the summit is unforgettable. You might spot chamois, golden eagles, and — with a bit of luck — tracks of the Marsican brown bear.

🌸 Val Fondillo – Accessible nature and fairytale charm

Distance: 3 km from the campsite | Difficulty: easy/medium

A natural paradise, perfect for all ages. Here you can:

  • Stroll among ancient beech trees and colourful wildflowers
  • Stop at the enchanting Grotta delle Fate (Fairy Cave)
  • Continue towards the mysterious Passaggio dell’Orso (Bear’s Crossing)

A place that enchants both children and adults — ideal for picnics, photography, and peaceful contemplation.

🏞️ Monte Amaro di Opi – Silence and panoramic views

Duration: approx. 2 hours | Difficulty: medium

A rewarding climb that takes you to the summit of Monte Amaro (1.862 m)From the top, you can admire the Marsicano mountain ange and, with a bit of luck, spot wild Apennine chamois. A truly authentic experience for mountain lovers.
